Modernes Geschirr: Welches passt zu deinem Einrichtungsstil?

Modern tableware: Which suits your interior style?

Leonie Deventer || Lesezeit: 4 Minuten

Understated in design, versatile in use. That is what we expect from good tableware – and how we design our plates, cups, and bowls. Minimalist designs become timeless classics in the kitchen and dining room. They live with you and adapt to your everyday life.

In this guide, we show you which tableware suits modern and minimalist kitchens and dining rooms – and what really matters when it comes to high-quality tableware.

What defines modern tableware

Modern tableware is characterized by clean shapes, reduced lines, and a natural color palette. No elaborate patterns, no excess of flourishes and details – instead, functionality through thoughtful design.

Clean shapes: Modern tableware often has a sculptural form language. From symmetrical to organic.

Material: In addition to classic porcelain, stoneware is extremely popular. It impresses with a matte, grippy feel and a natural, warmer appearance.

Handmade: Minimalist tableware that is made by hand gains an individual character through irregularities in shape or glaze.

Multifunctionality: With modern tableware, function is paramount. It is designed so that plates and co. can be used for different courses. Such as our Deep Plates for pasta as well as soup.

High everyday usability: Modern tableware is generally dishwasher-safe and microwave-safe. It is easy to stack and thus easy to store.

Stoneware or porcelain: What is the difference?

Modern tableware is made from different materials. Porcelain and stoneware are popular.

Porcelain is light, thin-walled, and looks delicate. Depending on the quality, it is not dishwasher- or microwave-safe – and correspondingly more sensitive in daily use.

Stoneware is fired at around 1200 °C – higher than most other types of ceramics. This makes it denser, more robust, and more durable. It withstands dishwashers and is oven-safe up to 220 °C. For everyday tableware that is used, stacked, and washed daily, stoneware is the more practical choice.

For our tableware sets, we deliberately use high-quality stoneware and have it handmade in a manufactory in Portugal. This is how we create timeless companions for your everyday life, which are easy to clean and can be used in different ways.

Which tableware suits which interior style?

Minimalist style

Minimalist tableware in white, gray, or off-white can be combined without problems and adapts to any interior. In addition, the natural tones are absolute classics and make modern tableware timeless. The deciding factor for sets is that the shapes are coordinated: cups, plates, and bowls from one series look calmer than mixed individual pieces.

Modern, design-conscious style

A glossy glaze, artisanal imperfections, organic shapes – modern tableware is recognized by details that do not impose themselves, but subtly ensure a sense of quality. Designer tableware often plays with current trends, whereas we rely on an iconic design language.

Timeless-classic style

Timeless tableware lives from reduced shapes and materials. No decoration that looks outdated in five years. No pattern that is tied to a specific moment. The tableware writes many stories along the way, while the rest of the table can change.

What you should look for in high-quality tableware

High-quality tableware is recognized not only by its appearance, but by its craftsmanship:

Firing temperature: Stoneware fired at 1,200 °C is denser and more durable than lower-fired ceramics.

Handmade: Handmade tableware does not have machine-perfect uniformity. You recognize it by slight imperfections in the glaze or minimal dimensional deviations.

Place of production: Good tableware is made in selected manufactories. Ours is handmade in Portugal.

Buy individually or as a tableware set?

A modern, simple tableware set offers the advantage that cups, plates, and bowls are coordinated – in shape, color, and size. This results in a tidy look when setting the table, and the right tableware is ready for every meal.

In addition, it is possible to easily supplement the tableware set. An Extra Bowl for larger rounds, a deep plate for soups – whoever has opted for a timeless tableware set can effortlessly buy individual pieces to add on. Therefore, both are ideal: sets as a basis, individual pieces for expanding.

Our tableware: Stoneware, handmade in Portugal

Whether a 30-piece set or individual cups, plates, and bowls – with its minimalist design, our tableware becomes a timeless classic in the kitchen and dining room. Depending on the size and product, you can serve exactly what currently suits your taste or occasion.

For the material, we have opted for high-quality stoneware fired at 1,200 °C. This makes it particularly durable. Even in the oven, it withstands up to 220 °C as a casserole dish or serving platter. In addition, it is dishwasher-safe and does not absorb odors due to the glaze. The taste of your food thus remains unchanged.

Our tableware includes ten products: from the large plate for main courses to the serving platter and the Deep Plate for pasta and soups. All pieces are available individually or as assembled tableware sets.
